Fall cleanups scheduledLawrence County, as well as the cities of Hoxie and Walnut Ridge, have announced plans for their fall cleanups.
Lawrence County will have Class IV dumpsters available Oct. 6-11 at Bill Jones Wrecker Service in Powhatan and the Lawrence County Shop on Highway 67, south of Hoxie.
The dumpsters are for non-household waste, such as appliances and furniture. No tires, shingles, building materials, etc. will be accepted.
The dumpsters will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, through Friday, Oct. 10, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Fall cleanup in the city of Hoxie is scheduled for Oct. 6-17. Pickup will begin on the northwest side of Midway Road and work southwest to the bypass, then cross over to the southeast side and work northwest to the Brewer Addition.
Residents are asked to separate items into four categories: metal (appliances, etc.), brush (tree limbs, etc., no longer than five foot), wood (boards, etc.) and junk items.
All items must by by the street ready for pickup. No return trips will be made.
Items that cannot be picked up include tires, batteries, paint cans and chemical cans.
Walnut Ridge's citywide cleanup will be Oct. 13-25. Curbside pickup will be conducted Monday through Friday.
In addition, dumpsters will be available at the city shop, which is located at 330 Southwest Fourth Street, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
Restrictions include roofing shingles, tires, paint and any hazardous materials.
