The Hoxie senior high volleyball team competed in the Harrisburg Invitational Tournament on Saturday.
Hoxie opened pool play by defeating Batesville Southside 25-22, 25-19.
Chasity Becker was 10-of-11 from the service line, with an ace and eight assists. Courtney Jones had four digs and two kills. Shayla Coats had seven digs. Kelsey Lewis had seven kills, and Brianna Liscomb had six kills.
The Lady Mustangs next defeated Ridgefield Christian 25-8, 25-9.
Becker had three kills and four assists. Jones had two kills. Lewis was 11-of-11 serving, with an ace and two kills.
Hoxie finished pool play with a loss to West Memphis, 23-25, 11-25.
Jones had four digs and two kills. Erika Manis had three digs and a kill. Becker and Lewis each had three kills.
Hoxie finished second in pool play and was seeded fourth in the gold bracket.
The Lady Mustangs opened bracket play by defeating Cave City 25-17, 25-20.
Becker had five kills and four assists. Jones had two kills. Lewis had four kills and a block. Devine Wilson and Liscomb each had three kills.
West Memphis was the next opponent for Hoxie. The Lady Blue Devils prevailed in a close match 25-22, 25-19 to eliminate the Lady Mustangs.
Becker had four kills and five assists. Jones had three digs, two kills and two blocks. Lewis had seven kills and three block, and Coats had three digs. Wilson had three kills and nine assists, and Liscomb had four kills.
Hoxie traveled to Brookland to face the Lady Bearcats in high school volleyball on Thursday. The Lady Mustangs gave the defending 3A state champions all they could handle before Brookland prevailed in the decisive fifth game 15-9.
Brookland appeared to take command of the match early, winning the first two games 25-14 and 25-22. Hoxie battled back to win the third and fourth games 25-23 and 25-21 to force the tie-breaking fifth game.
For the Lady Mustangs, Becker finished with six digs, 10 kills, 13 assists and three blocks. Jones had 17 digs and seven kills. Coats recorded 11 digs, and Erika Manis had 10 digs. Lewis finished with seven kills and six blocks. Liscomb had five kills and two blocks. Kelsey Dobbs had nine digs, and Wilson had six kills.
The junior high contest also went the distance, with the junior Lady Bearcats taking the win in three games 25-19, 19-25, 25-18.
Alyssa Coggins went 8-of-8 from the service line, with an ace, four digs, two kills and a block. Courtney Sears had four kills and block. Emily Freer and Hali Pratt each had two kills, and Sarah Manis had five assists.
The Lady Mustangs defeated Cave City 25-4, 25-7, 16-25, 25-13 on Sept. 9 at Hoxie.
Becker was 7-of-8 from the service line and had 10 kills, five assists and two digs. Jones went 8-of-9 from the line, with an ace, four digs, eight kills, two assists and a block. Coats was 24-of-24 from the line, with five aces and seven digs. Erika Manis served 4-of-4, with two aces and three digs. Lewis had four digs, three kills and a block. Liscomb had three digs and four kills. Amanda Whaley was 18-of-19 from the line, with four aces and 14 assists.
Hoxie won the junior high match 25-11, 25-20.
Freer was 8-of-8 from the line, with an ace and two kills. Coggins was 10-of-11 from the line, with four aces, four kills and two digs. Sarah Manis had five assists and Pratt had three assists. Maddison Woodard and Sears had three kills each.
The Lady Mustangs swept a pair of contests from Bay on Sept. 8 at Hoxie.
Hoxie won the senior high match 25-12, 19-25, 25-11, 2512.
Becker was 4-of-4 serving, with an ace, three digs, six kills and four assists. Jones went 23-of-24 from the service line, with six aces, six digs and seven kills. Lewis had four digs and 10 kills. Kassie Teel was 11-of-11 from the line with two aces, three digs and four kills. Whaley was 17-of-17 serving, with two aces, three digs, a kill and 16 assists.
The Hoxie junior high defeated Bay 25-22, 23-25, 25-18.
Pratt was 3-of-3 from the line, with an ace and two assists. Sarah Manis was 10-of-12 serving, with four aces and four assists. Woodard served 11-of-13, with five aces. Coggins went 7-of-7 from the line, with four aces, six kills and a block. Sears was 9-of-11 from the line, with eight aces and a kill. Freer went 3-of-3 from the line, with an ace, a kill and an assist.
