Smith wins Hoxie seat

Lonnie Owen Smith of Hoxie was re-elected to the Hoxie School Board during Tuesday's school election.

He received 135 votes to defeat challenger Jeff Moskop, who received 93 votes.

The other local school districts held their elections through early and absentee voting because they did not have races.

Unopposed candidates that were elected are: Hillcrest School District, Larry Brent Glenn, Zone 2, and Darrell Smith, Zone 3; Lawrence County School District, Joe Penn, Black Rock position, and Keith Brand, Walnut Ridge position; and Sloan-Hendrix School, Joey Crawford.
