Early voting set for election
Early voting will begin Tuesday for school elections in Lawrence County, according to County Clerk Tina Stowers.
Individuals can vote Tuesday through Friday of next week and Monday, Aug. 15, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the clerk's office in the Lawrence County Courthouse in Walnut Ridge.
The polls will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the Hoxie School election. Candidates vying for the school board position are Lonnie Owen Smith of Hoxie and Jeff Moskop of Sedgwick.
All the other districts have chosen to hold their elections entirely through early and absentee voting. Stowers said districts that have no races for school board and are not seeking a change in millage can elect to save the costs of opening the polls on election day.
