Ethen Daniel Aguinaga

Steven and Stephane (Sluder) Aguinaga of Tyler Town, Miss., are the parents of a son, born Aug. 12, 2008. The baby weighed six pounds, 13 ounces and has been named Ethen Daniel.

He has two older brothers, Gavin and Coleman.

Grandparents are Connie Sluder of Hoxie and David and Melodie Triche of Lulling, La.

David Mikhail Dry

Eric and Sonya Dry of College City announce the birth of a son on Aug. 4, 2008, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro. The baby weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces and has been named David Mikhail Dry.

He has a sister Sydney, who is seven.

Grandparents are Johnny and Sara Gilliam of Hoxie and Sue Dry of Portia. Great-grandparents are Ethrene Grissom of Walnut Ridge and Elaine Gilliam of Hoxie.

Ainsley Mae Blythe Fain
Broznan Andrew Spike Fain

Andy and Tabitha Fain of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of twins, a girl and a boy, on Aug. 13 at Harris Hospital in Newport.

The daughter weighed five pounds, 14 ounces, and has been named Ainsley Mae Blythe Fain. The son weighed six pounds, two ounces, and has been named Broznan Andrew Spike Fain. The twins have two older brothers, Gavin Fain, seven, of Swifton and Slade Fain, four, of Walnut Ridge.

Grandparents are David and Elizabeth Cox of Booneville, Miss., and Curtis and Jeanette Fain of Walnut Ridge.

They are the great-grandchildren of Marie Ward of Hoxie and Marvin and Mary Cox and the great-great-grandchildren of Luther Cox, all of Saltillo, Miss.

Ryan Grace Hutcherson
Sophie Reese Hutcherson

Rob and Jancey Hutcherson of Little Rock have announced the birth of their first children, twin daughters, born August 13, 2008, at UAMS in Little Rock. They have been named Ryan Grace Hutcherson and Sophie Reese Hutcherson. Ryan Grace weighed five pounds, four ounces, and Sophie Reese weighed five pounds, 15 ounces.

Grandparents are Robert “Bob” and Paula Hutcherson of Walnut Ridge, Jerry Sheats of Baytown, Texas, and Sandy Nelson of Laguna Beach, Calif. Pauline Howard of Walnut Ridge is the great-grandmother.

Leah Kathryn Stallcup

Dr. Jim and Leslie Stallcup of Huntsville have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born August 15, 2008, at the Willow Creek Women’s Hospital in Fayetteville. The baby weighed seven pounds, 15 ounces, and has been named Leah Kathryn Stallcup.

Grandparents include David and Sherry Tyson of Columbus, Ohio., and Jim and Lyn Stallcup of Walnut Ridge. Geraldine Stallcup of Walnut Ridge is the great-grandmother.

Jason Keldon Willfond

Jason and Shea Willfond of Black Rock announce the birth of a son, born Aug. 13, 2008, at Harris Hospital in Newport.

The baby weighed eight pounds 12 ounces and has been named Jason Keldon Willfond. He will be called Keldon. He has one brother, Slayde Simms, 22 months.

Grandparents are Larry and Cathy Willfond of Black Rock and Ray Bobbitt of Walnut Ridge.

Great Grandparents are Vera Graham of Black Rock, Junior and Niladean Willfond, Jo Hanvey and Helen Bobbitt, all of Hoxie.

Fears ~ Tucker

Katherin Amelia Tucker became the bride of Terry Lee Fears on July 19, 2008, at Stewart Park in Walnut Ridge.

The bride is the daughter of Robert and Vicki Tucker of Delaplaine and Melton and Marsha Sloan of Walnut Ridge. She is the granddaughter of Ronald and Sharon DeNoe of Gassville and Betty Hampton of Kennett, Mo., and the great-granddaughter of Doyle and Faye Davenport of Gassville.

The groom is the son of Gary and Sandra Hefner of Clover Bend. He is the grandson of Mary Jane Frye of Hoxie.

They are the parents of Alexus Fears.

The bride wore an ivory gown with an overlay of lace and crystals featuring a four-foot train. She carried a cascading bouquet of pink roses.

Lynsey Mullen of Alicia served as matron of honor, and Halli Marik, daughter of Jason and Jessica Marik of Walnut Ridge, was flower girl.

The best man was Kevin “Cookie” Thompson of O’Kean.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Hoxie Service Center.

Out-of-county guests included the bride’s aunt, Betty Bellah of Gassville.

The couple reside in Hoxie.

Mayland ~ Kakla

Brittany Kahla became the bride of Matthew Mayland on March 30, 2008, at the Bella Terrazza in Houston, Texas.

Parents of the couple are Norman and Lynn Kahla of Missouri City, Texas, and Rick and Naedean Mayland of Hoxie.

Grandparents of the bride are Don and Barbara Osburn of Columbia, Mo., and Trudy Kahla of ElCampo, Texas, and the late Earl Kahla.

Grandparents of the groom are Lawrence and Delcine Mayland and Marie Miller, all of Hoxie, and the late T.Z. Miller.

Shannon Josephson served as matron of honor, and the best man was Ryan Crisler.

The bride’s attendants were Beau Kahla, brother of the bride, and Laura Ray. The groom’s attendants were Kimberly Preston and Andy Dunham.

They reside in Houston, where Brittany is a kindergarten teacher and Matthew is a registered nurse in West Houston.

Hilda Branham

Hilda R. Branham, 63, of Collierville, Tenn., died Aug. 16, 2008, at her home.

Born Aug. 27, 1944, at Alicia, she was the daughter of Wesley Harold and Evelyn Arlene Baney McGonigal. She was a legal secretary in the medical field and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Lawrence Branham; and a daughter, Sherri Lynn Gladden.

Survivors include a daughter, Terri Forte, Collierville, Tenn.; her mother, Arlene McGonigal, Walnut Ridge; three sisters, Linda Mann, Walnut Ridge, Eva Davidson, Atoka, Tenn., and Glenda Smith, Nixa, Mo.; three brothers, Paul L. Young, Frankford, Ind., Rick McGonigal, Houston, and Gary McGonigal, Portia; and a grandson, Collin Watkins, Collierville, Tenn.

Funeral is today at 11 a.m. in Bryan Chapel with Bro. Sam Spurlock officiating. Burial will be in Stangers Home Cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Corey Long, Tyler Tyson, Steve Whittaker, Tony Anglin, Randy Long and Michael McGonigal.

Colin Lee Gentry

Colin Lee Gentry, 44, of Winslow, died Aug. 15, 2008, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Born Jan. 16, 1964, in Walnut Ridge, he was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Lee Gentry.

Survivors include his wife, Shelley Gentry; his mother, Margie Rickey Gentry, Walnut Ridge; a brother, Kelvin Gentry, Walnut Ridge; a sister, LaShaun Gentry, Walnut Ridge; and his grandmother, Zuma Rickey, Pocahontas.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove with Don Nichols officiating.

Alan Jackson

Alan Lee Jackson, 47, of Black Rock, died Aug. 16, 2008, at his home.

He was a carpenter and a lifelong resident of Black Rock.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Jackson; and a sister, Sandy Blazer.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Jackson, Imboden, and Jason Duncan, Black Rock; two daughters, Casey Passmore, Imboden, and Amanda Puckett, Forman; his mother, Doris Darris, Black Rock; two sisters, Donna Ashby, Michigan, and Charlotte McGarrah, Hardy; four brothers, Junior Jackson, Pocahontas, Eugene Jackson, Alicia, Frankie Jackson, Black Rock, and Steve Jackson, Florida; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 7 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Jason Jackson officiating. Burial was private.

Pallbearers were Shannon Passmore, Nathan Jackson, Charles Meeks, Junior Jackson, Dwight Stephens and Willie Blazer. Honorary pallbearers were Louis Koch, Frankie Jackson and Robert McLaughlin.

Sherman Franklin Johnson

Sherman Franklin Johnson, 76, of Paragould, brother of Bob Johnson of Hoxie, died Aug. 18, 2008, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro. Funeral is today at 10:30 a.m. in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel at Paragould. Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery. An online guestbook is available at www.mitchellfuneralhomes.com.

Donald Lee Owens

Donald Lee Owens, 71, of Hoxie, died Aug. 16, 2008, in Memphis.

He lived most of his life in Lawrence County and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired factory worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Virginia Cook Owens; an infant sister; and a granddaughter, Sloane Owens.

Survivors include a son, David Owens, Bono; a daughter, Marie Ford, Jonesboro; a sister, Anita Duncan, Walnut Ridge; four grandchildren, his former wife, Betty; a special friend, Barbara; and a close friend, Butch Horton.

Graveside service was Monday at 3 p.m. at Strangers Home Cemetery, near Alicia, with Ryan Johnston officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
