MUSEUM PROJECT PROGRESSES ~ Bricks were being laid Monday at the Walnut Ridge Army Flying School Museum at the airport industrial park. The bricks, a fund-raising project for the museum, were purchased to honor or memorialize individuals whose names have been inscribed on them. Meeting held
to discuss
widening 63
to Portia

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department held a Public Involvement Meeting at the Portia Community Center on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. to discuss plans for improvements to Highway 63.

Many economic stimulus
payments still unclaimed

There are an estimated 483 senior citizens, veterans and other people in Lawrence County who are still eligible to receive an Economic Stimulus Payment but have not requested it, according to County Judge Alex Latham.

Drill held in preparation
for training at WR airport

In preparation for the training planned for this fall at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport by the Arkansas Air National Guard Air Force Base at Jacksonville, a drill was held on Thursday for the Walnut Ridge Fire Department.

Goin' Postal Shipping and Printing, owned by Michael Montgomery and his wife, Shania, celebrated three years of business in Walnut Ridge last month.

Austin Cemetery and park
revitalize Old Walnut Ridge

Something new has been taking place in Old Walnut Ridge. With the cleanup and improvements to Old Walnut Ridge's Austin Cemetery and with the addition of a new mini-park at the cemetery's entrance, a new sense of pride has been evidenced in the area, according to Cathy Jones, granddaughter of Miles and Catherine Ponder of Old Walnut Ridge.
