An Imboden man remains in custody in the Lawernce County Jail after being charged with first-degree murder.

Filings end for
school board,
Hoxie School
has only race

The filing period for school board elections ended at noon Friday, with only one race in the county and with incumbents filing for all open board positions.

Dry is new Portia mayor

Sue Dry has been appointed as mayor of Portia, filling a vacancy left by the resignation of Dale Freeman last month. Dry, a life-long resident of Portia, accepted the position at the July 15 city council meeting and was sworn into office by Justice of the Peace Craig Stone who was in attendance.

Crum competes for title,
earns scholarship money

After an exhilarating and exhausting eight days in Hot Springs competing for the coveted title of Miss Arkansas, Hollyann Crum is home again with lots of wonderful memories and new friendships.

Trip to Paris is dream come true

About a year ago, my parents told me that as a graduation gift they would treat me to the destination of my choice. The only requirements were that the trip had to be semi-educational and that I would have to research and help plan the trip.
