Hoxie named KAIT finalistKAIT has announced the eight finalists for the Region 8 Community of the Year, including Hoxie.
Each community will be recognized during the month of July with a special visit from the Region 8 News Team. KAIT will take Region 8 News at 5 and 6 p.m. on the road to do live newscasts from the finalist communities, plus special segments featuring the history and culture of the towns.
KAIT will be in Hoxie on Thursday with plans to broadcast from the Hoxie City Park.
Residents are invited to come out and watch the live newscasts and meet the Region 8 News Team on location.
KAIT VP and General Manager Tim Ingram said, "We have lots of outstanding communities in Region 8 and this tour is a great opportunity for the Region 8 News Team to highlight some of the best. We want to let everyone in Region 8 have the opportunity to show others what is great about life in their hometown."
Other communities selected as finalists include: Piggott, Pocahontas, Harrisburg, Marked Tree, Kennett, Mo., Newport and Paragould.
The Region 8 Community of the Year will be announced Aug. 8 during the Good Neighbor Awards ceremony. Honoring outstanding service in Region 8, The Good Neighbor Awards promote, foster and encourage volunteerism, community service and activism to create a better Region 8.
Awards are given to a diverse group of deserving residents from throughout Region 8. The results of the Awards Ceremony will be broadcast Sunday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. on KAIT.
