Hoxie, Lawrence County
property exchange finalized
At a special session of the Hoxie City Council on Monday an ordinance was passed finalizing the exchange of properties between Hoxie and Lawrence County.
According to the agreement, which has also been approved by the Lawrence County Quorum Court, Hoxie receives the parcel of land that lies between the two lanes of Highway 63B at the intersection with Highway 67B. The county receives two lots in the Boas Raney Addition.

Dewey Scott, representative from the Job Stimulus Re-use Fund Committee, recommended the use of that property for a Save-A-Lot grocery store.
A resolution was approved to provide a 20-year loan for up to $740,000 to Black and Allen Properties, LLC.
Wayne Black and Andy Allen, owners of Black and Allen Properties, LLC, plan to open the Save-A-Lot store on Nov. 1. It is foreseen that 15 jobs will be generated by this new business.
Aldermen present at the meeting were Jim Kirksey, Sherry Moore, Adam Pratt and Kenneth Quarry. Four aldermen are required for a quorum.
Kirksey, Moore and Pratt voted in favor of granting the loan, but Kenneth Quarry abstained from the vote saying he did not want to make a decision too quickly. Mayor Donnie Roberts voted in favor, as well, making it a full quorum.
