Trumann duo claims win in
Junie Dowell Golf Tourney

The 32nd annual Junie Dowell Golf Tournament was held Saturday and Sunday at the Walnut Ridge Country Club golf course. Thirty-seven teams participated in the two-person scramble and played 18 holes each day.

Twins contribute to team's victory;
Jacob Defries receives MVP honors

Jacob Defries of Hoxie was named Most Valuable Player of the 13AA USSSA Baseball Tournament at Marion. Defries played catcher for the Tuckerman Bulldogs team, which won the state title with a 13-5 victory over the Arkansas Lightning on Sunday. Jacob's twin brother, Hayden, was the team's leftfielder.

Bulldogs are state champions

The Tuckerman Bulldogs, a team consisting of youth from Lawrence, Jackson and Indpendence Counties, won the 13AA USSSA Baseball Tournament held June 20-22 at Marion. The Bulldogs became the first 16th-seeded team to win the state title.
