Portia Picnic begins tonightThe 103rd annual Portia Picnic begins tonight, with the carnival midway open from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The carnival will continue each evening through Tuesday, but will not be open on Sunday. Armband nights are planned for each night with the cost being $12 in advance and $15 on the fairgrounds. They can be purchased in advance at Portia City Hall. Karen Woolbright will offer karaoke Friday and Saturday nights from 5-9 at the pavilion. Because the carnival could not come over the July 4 holiday, a fireworks display has not been planned. Concessions will be available on the midway while the carnival is open. The Independence Pageants, as well as the traditional Baby Show, will be held on Sunday, June 29, at 2 p.m. For more information on the pageants, contact Wanda at 886-7897.
