Polar Freeze plans special
events to mark anniversary
Polar Freeze owners Jack and Velma Allison will mark their 50th anniversary operating the popular local restaurant next week.
A drop-in reception is planned for Monday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Polar Freeze.
The event will kick off a weeklong celebration that will include daily giveaways. Those visiting the Polar Freeze on Monday can register for a drawing on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. for a barbecue ham.
In addition, door prizes will be given away Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from names entered the previous day.
The restaurant has been owned by the Allison family since Jack purchased it from Thurlo and Ruth Davis in 1958.
The Allisons have three children, Kellie Yates and Shad Allison, both of Walnut Ridge, and Calvin Allison of Tampa, Fla. They have four grandchildren, Holley and Hunter Yates and Emily and Kobe Allison.
