Hoxie named to ACE programThe city of Hoxie has been named an Arkansas Community of Excellence (ACE). The city will host a celebration with a presentation ceremony on Friday, June 20, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoxie Service Center.
Gov. Mike Beebe, Arkansas Economic Development Director of Community Development Denisa Pennington, Renee Doty and other dignitaries will be present.
The city of Hoxie, organized a committee in February of 2006 to work with the Arkansas Department of Economic Development's Arkansas Communities of Excellence Program. Doty, ADED's community development consultant for this region of Arkansas, met with the mayor, city clerk, city council and several residents to inform them of the process.
Jim Kirksey, Sherry Moore, John Allen, Lanny Tinker and Dewey Scott were selected to chair the various areas of focus to achieve the goal.
Strategic planning meetings were held at the Hoxie Service Center in June of 2006 to begin the process. Doty met with the city officials, committee members and other interested residents to develop a plan to expand the local economy and enhance the quality of life for residents.
The group performed a thorough analysis of the community to determine a vision, identify and prioritize goals and implement a three-year strategic plan.
Everyone in the community is invited to attend the celebration.
