Allisons to mark
50 at Polar Freeze
The Polar Freeze, home of real pit barbecue in Walnut Ridge, will mark its 50th anniversary this summer under the ownership of Jack and Velma Allison. Jack bought the business from Thurlo Davis in 1958.
Through the years, Polar Freeze has been a gathering place for generations of present and former area residents, who often return to the drive-in or dine-in restaurant for a barbecue or cheeseburger.
Kellie Yates, the Allisons' daughter, is asking anyone with fond memories of the Polar Freeze to share their stories. Kellie has asked that former employees also send information about themselves, past and present day lives, and their experiences at the Polar Freeze.
These memories will be compiled in a book for the Allisons.
Information can be mailed or e-mailed. The mailing address is: Kellie Yates, 100 Jamestown Road, Walnut Ridge, AR 72476. The e-mail address is: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Allisons tentatively plan to celebrate the anniversary beginning June 30 through the first week in July.
