WR School honors faculty, staffWalnut Ridge School held an employee appreciation banquet May 19 in the Van Ellis Cafeteria. Those recognized were retiring teachers and staff, teachers and the employees of the year, and those who have been with Walnut Ridge School for five, 10, 20, 25, 30 or 35 years.Supt. Terry Belcher, along with Kim Keen, elementary principal, and Charles Lee, high school principal, made the presentations. Following a catered steak dinner, Ben Brand, assisted by Mike Nunnally, entertained with several musical numbers. Darlene Moore, Jason Ward and Charles Lee also participated in the entertainment.
Named teachers or staff members of the year were: Joan Harris, elementary; Cindy Logan, middle level; Dr. Ellen Holloway, high school; staff (tie) Dee Dee Bridges and Troy Chappel. Each award recipient received a plaque and a gift card.
Dianne Martin, first grade teacher, is retiring after 31 years with the school. She was presented with a plaque and a watch. Faculty leaving the school with five or more years of service were presented with a plaque. They included: Jennifer Biggers and Shannon Wewers. Also recognized were those leaving the school after less than five years of service. They were: Joan Harris, Elizabeth Shelby, Jimmy Hodges and Matt Gay.
Five-year service pins were awarded to: Jennifer Biggers, Tonda Brand, Emily McNair and Shannon Wewers. Ten-year service pins were presented to: Derek Bramlett, Leslie Burgin, Sherry Butts and Joe Fisher. Vera Chappel and Norie Tribble received 15-year pins. Jeanie Harper and Earnie Liles received 20-year pins. A 30-year pin was awarded to Beverly Hathcock. Darlene Moore received a 35-year service pin.
