Business changes abound in area

Several businesses have opened or relocated recently in the Hoxie and Walnut Ridge area. The businesses offer everything from food to beauty services, furniture to insurance and small gifts to a new dirt bike.

One new restaurant in the area is the Veracruz Mexican Grill, located at 3215 Highway 67B North (next to Pizza Hut) in Walnut Ridge. Pedro Sanchez relocated from Tupelo, Miss., where he owned another food establishment. Veracruz is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and offers Mexican style steaks, seafood, shrimp and specialty food.

T.C.'s Place is another new restaurant, located in Hoxie at 429 Northwest Texas. Tim and Sherry Clement own the food trailer, which is open from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The restaurant offers 75-cent slushies during happy hour from 3 to 4 p.m. T.C.'s Place also offers burgers, nachos, hot dogs and donkey tails among other things.

"People are really talking about T.C.'s burgers tasting great," said Hoxie Mayor Donnie Roberts.

Carson's Meat Market has changed owners. The new owner is Steve Ditto. Carson's is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is located at 109 East Main Street in Walnut Ridge. The market offers grocery items, as well as lunchmeat and specialty cuts.

"I just wanted Carson's Meat Market to keep going and continue to provide quality cuts and service to customers as it has in the past," Ditto said.

Three new beauty salons have made their home in Walnut Ridge.

Vicki Goza, Ginger Britton and Jennifer Jean have combined forces to establish the Hair and Body Company at 111 West Main Street. This full-service salon provides hair care services, pedicures and manicures, as well as massage services. The business opens at 10 a.m. on Tuesday through Saturday and remains open as needed by appointment.

Glam Salon, owned by Jeannie Hixson, is located at 420 Highway 67B (next to Special Things) and offers perms, waxing, colors and cuts. Walk-ins are welcome 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Three's Company Beauty Salon is a joint effort of Rita Bilbrey, Jennifer Brown and Lori Highfield. In addition to haircuts, perms, weaves and styles, the salon will also offer pedicures and manicures. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturday until noon. Walk-ins are welcome, and stylists will stay late by appointment. The salon is located at 105 Northwest Front Street in Walnut Ridge, and patrons should park on the north side of the building and enter in the back.

Rent One is moving after two years at their location in Walnut Ridge to a new building at 505 Northwest Texas in Hoxie (next to Pizza Den). The grand opening is planned for Sunday. Business hours will remain the same from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The business offers household furniture, appliances and electronics for rent or purchase.

The Furniture Store and Pet Palace have also moved after 14 years at their old location to 214 West Main Street (next to Sexton Pharmacy) in Walnut Ridge. Owner Dennis Sluder still offers furniture and pets. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

He has also added a new auction service. Auction consignments are accepted, and the auction is held every Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Several specialty establishments offer new options for local residents, including a gift shop, real estate/insurance agency and a Kawasaki dealership.

Flair Gift Shop is located in the Plaza Center in Walnut Ridge at Suite 715 Highway 67B North. Owner Henryetta Tyler offers a wide range of items and services including gifts, T-shirts, silk-screening and gourmet coffee Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"We have new arrivals coming in weekly," Tyler said.

Lou Robinett, who worked for Rogers Real Estate for 30 years, has opened 3 R Agency offering both real estate and home/auto insurance services. Robinett was to open the agency, located at 400 Southwest Texas in Hoxie, on Memorial Day. The hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Cox Implement Company has opened a new Kawasaki dealership on the Highway 63 bypass in Hoxie. The dealership offers Kawasaki motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs and utility vehicles, as well as jet skis and recreational utility vehicles. The dealership also offers parts and service. Hours of operation are Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cox Implement Company has been in business since 1956.
