Morgan invited to
Meet of Champions



Austin Morgan
Sloan-Hendrix's Austin Morgan placed first in the 1,600-meter run at the Class 2A State Track Meet held Thursday at Mineral Springs. Morgan won the event with a time of 4:51.47. The Greyhound junior also recorded a second-place finish in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:05.76.

In winning the 1,600 meters, Morgan received an invitation to compete in the 2008 Meet of Champions, to be held today at Lake Hamilton High School. Winners from each of the seven classifications, plus the five next best performances from all state meets, regardless of classification, are invited to compete in the meet.

In girls competition, Ronell Reed of Hillcrest placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 82'6".
