Hoxie tracksters advance to stateThe Hoxie High School senior high boys and girls track teams competed in the district track meet May 8 at Pocahontas.
The Hoxie senior boys were runners-up at the district meet. Seven Mustangs finished first or second in their events to qualify for the 3A State track meet held Tuesday at Prescott.
Alex Ward won the long jump and had second-place finishes in the triple jump and high jump to earn the boys individual high point award.
Adam Madden recorded wins in the 200-meter dash and the triple jump.
Craig Coffell won the 100-meter dash and finished second in the 200-meter dash.
David Sanders placed second in the 300-meter hurdles, and Josh Cypret placed second in the pole vault.
Also placing second was the 4x100-meter relay team of Clay Hart, Houston Waldrupe, Coffell and Madden.
For the Lady Mustangs, Tanya Sisco took first place in the triple jump, pole vault, 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and shot put to capture individual high point honor in the girls competition.
"The Hoxie coaches, administration, and the student body would like to congratulate all the track teams on a great season," said coach Matt Scarbrough.
