Accident results in death of Alicia man
What Tim McComas, Ravenden chief of police, called a freak accident claimed the life of an Alicia man on Monday.According to McComas, the accident occurred near Ravenden when Alfred Cobble, 57, was working on a riding lawnmower.
"It appears something was hung up in the blades and he had driven the front of the mower up onto his trailer so he could free it up and it slipped off," McComas said.
The mower fell on Cobble, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Others responding to the accident were the Ravenden Fire Department, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and AET Ambulance Service. McComas said they had called for Air Evac, but it was cancelled en route.
