Incumbents sweep
countywide races

Lawrence County voters decided several local races during the Democratic Primary Election on Tuesday. County Clerk Tina Stowers released unofficial results shortly before 11:30 p.m.

County Judge Alex Latham was elected to his 11th term by 45 votes. He received 1,558 votes compared to 1,513 votes cast for Dale Freeman.

WR bans novelty lighters

The Walnut Ridge City Council took steps at their meeting on May 12 to keep the children and adults of Walnut Ridge safer from a fire threat when they adopted an ordinance banning the sale of novelty lighters within the city.

Board purchases building
for Children's Shelter

The Children's Shelter Board of Directors has announced the purchase of a building located at 107 Benson Drive in Walnut Ridge as the future site of The Children's Shelter.

Accident results in death of Alicia man

What Tim McComas, Ravenden chief of police, called a freak accident claimed the life of an Alicia man on Monday.
