Meyer to play baseball at WBC
Drew Meyer, a four-year starter for the Sloan-Hendrix baseball team, has committed to continue his baseball career at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge.
Meyer served primarily as the Greyhounds' catcher, but SHHS head coach Ricky Grisham, said can play many positions.
"He is capable of playing about anywhere," Grisham said.
Baseball is a way of life for Meyer, who has played as long he can remember. continued ...

Simpson signs commitment with CRC
Cody Simpson, a senior at Sloan-Hendrix, has signed his commitment to play baseball at the college level for Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould.
Simpson pitched, as well as playing third and first, during his three years playing for the Greyhounds and had a batting average of around .380 his senior year. continued ...

Five Lawrence County high school teams suffered first-round defeats in their respective regional tournaments on Saturday to end their seasons.

S-H track members advance
Three Sloan-Hendrix track athletes qualified for the Class 2A State track meet by virtue of their performances at the 2A district meet at Pocahontas on May 5.
