LawCo teams meet
Walnut Ridge's Noah Burnside slammed a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Bobcats a 12-9 win over Hillcrest in the semifinals of the 2A-2 District Baseball Tournament on Monday at Tuckerman. Burnside's blast capped a furious seventh-inning rally, which saw Walnut Ridge score five runs after two were out.

The game was tied 7-7 after six innings, before the Screamin' Eagles plated two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 9-7 lead.
Hillcrest opened the bottom of the inning by retiring the first two Bobcat batters. Logan Gaither and Jared Blackwell then singled, and Mitchell Thompson drew a walk to load the bases. William Wilcoxson tied the game with a two-run single, which was followed by Burnside's game-ending homer.
Walnut Ridge advanced to Tuesday's championship game against host Tuckerman, who defeated Sloan-Hendrix 10-1 in the other semifinal.
Thompson started on the mound for Walnut Ridge and pitched the first six innings. He allowed seven runs on seven hits, with eight strikeouts and six walks. Curtis Jackson pitched the final two-thirds of an inning to earn the win.
Burnside had two hits and five RBIs to lead Walnut Ridge. Blackwell had two hits and scored three runs. Wilcoxson had two hits and two RBIs, and Brandon Dawson had two hits.
Marcus Huskey, Dylan Wooten, Derek Wooten and Jordan Hunter each had two hits for Hillcrest.
