The Hoxie Lady Mustangs concluded the 2008 softball season with a 6-5 extra-inning loss to Marmaduke on Saturday in the 3A-3 District Tournament at Corning.

The game was tied 3-3 after seven innings. Hoxie took a 5-3 lead in the top of the eighth inning on a two-run single by Shayla Coats, which plated Kelsey Dobbs and Courtney Jones.

Marmaduke responded in the bottom of the inning. With one run in, the Lady Greyhounds had the bases loaded with two outs. Marmaduke's leadoff hitter delivered a line drive to right center to bring home the winning run.

Dobbs started on the mound for the Lady Mustangs and took the loss. She allowed seven hits while striking out seven and walking one.

Brooke French had two hits for Hoxie.

The Lady Mustangs end the season with a 4-18 record.
