Cats earn wins
Walnut Ridge defeated Marked Tree 8-3 in regular season action on April 22 at Walnut Ridge.
Bobcat pitchers Mitchell Thompson, Curtis Jackson and Bennett Dudley combined to hold the Indians to three runs. Thompson started and pitched four shutout innings, recording five strikeouts. Jackson and Dudley pitched the final three innings.
WR girls win two
The Lady Bobcats defeated Bay 6-0 on Thursday at Bay.
Zebras qualify for regionals
The Weiner Cardinals eliminated host Black Rock from the 1A-3 South District Baseball Tournament with a 14-2 win over the Zebras in semifinals on Monday.
LawCo teams meet
Walnut Ridge's Noah Burnside slammed a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Bobcats a 12-9 win over Hillcrest in the semifinals of the 2A-2 District Baseball Tournament on Monday at Tuckerman. Burnside's blast capped a furious seventh-inning rally, which saw Walnut Ridge score five runs after two were out.

The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles softball season ended Saturday with a 4-3 loss to the Midland Lady Mustangs in the second round of the district tournament at Judsonia.

Hoxie girls sweep EPC
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs traveled to Lepanto on April 21 and swept the East Poinsett County Lady Warriors in a softball doubleheader by scores of 8-1 and 11-1.
Greyhounds qualify for regionals
The Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds baseball team won two games in the 2A-2 District Tournament before falling to host Tuckerman 10-1 in the semifinals on Monday. With the wins, the Greyhounds secured a berth in the 2A-North Regional Tournament, which begins on Saturday at Tuckerman.
Hoxie girls end season
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs concluded the 2008 softball season with a 6-5 extra-inning loss to Marmaduke on Saturday in the 3A-3 District Tournament at Corning.
