Hoxie tracksters faring wellThe Hoxie track teams competed in two meets recently.
Tanya Sisco won the senior high girls high point award at the Greyhound Relays in Newport. She placed first in the pole vault, the 100-meter hurdles and the shot put. She finished second in the 300-meter hurdles and also scored points with a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash. Craig Coffell won the senior high boys pole vault at the Greyhound Relays. Other Boys who competed at Newport were Adam Madden, Josh Cypert, Houston Waldrupe, Devon Holt, Tommy Stockton and Cody Varner.
Krista Coffell won the seventh grade girls high point award at the Seventh Grade Ram Relays in Paragould. She placed first in the pole vault and triple jump, and finished second in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and the long jump. Cheryl Adams won the seventh grade girls shot put at Paragould.
The junior high and senior high boys will compete at the Ram Relays in Paragould on Thursday. The junior high boys and girls will compete at Pocahontas on Tuesday. The senior high teams will compete at Pocahontas on May 1. The Hoxie track teams are coached by Matt Scarbrough, Chris Murray and Jim Austin. "We're very happy with the way the season has progressed and the amount of work the athletes have put in this season," said Scarbrough. "Weather made it tough to get an early start, but the kids have worked very hard and are looking forward to the remainder of the season."
