Walk of Hope is Saturday
Walkers are encouraged to meet at the front of the hospital, where there will be a registration table to sign in. To celebrate the five-year anniversary there will be no charge for the walk; however, donations are always welcome. In addition, everyone who registers for the walk will be eligible to win door prizes. Individuals must be present to win.
In addition to celebrating five years of the walk, organizers are also celebrating the addition of a new service for local residents. Lawrence Health Services has designated a room at the hospital to be used by the Lawrence County Walk of Hope for the purpose of providing wigs, hats, scarves, etc. to cancer patients who need them. Following the walk, there will be a ribbon cutting and open house for the public to view the room and learn more about what will be available. Co-founders Claudia Wheeless and Carolyn Fowler invite everyone to participate in the walk. "The Lawrence County Walk of Hope is a group of volunteers organized for the purpose of raising money and awareness for cancer patients," Wheeless said. "We invite everyone to come and walk with us on Saturday." For more information call Fowler at 886-7602 or Wheeless at 886-7464.
