The Walnut Ridge Bobcat baseball team has earned bragging rights as county champions for the 13th year in a row. Bobcats mark 13 years
as county champions
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats defeated Hillcrest 15-4 in the finals of the Lawrence County Baseball Tournament to claim the title for the 13th year in a row.
Brandon Dawson earned the win, pitching five innings, allowing four runs on four hits, walking four and striking out 11.
Logan Gaither led the Cats hitting 3-for-4, with two runs scored and two RBI's. Mitchell Thompson hit 2-for-2, scoring three runs, and William Wilcoxson was 2-for-2, with two RBIs. Dawson went 1-for-3, with three RBI's.
The victory brought the Bobcats' record to 11-6 on the year. Dawson is 5-0 on the mound, and Bennett Dudley is 3-1.

Walnut Ridge defeated Sloan-Hendrix 10-0 in the semifinals.
Dudley took the win from the mound, pitching five innings, allowing no runs on two hits, walking four and striking out six.
Gaither led the Cats, hitting 4-for-4 at the plate, with three runs scored and two RBI's. Noah Burnside was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Curtis Jackson was 2-for-3 at the plate.
Hillcrest ~ Hoxie
Hillcrest scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Hoxie 4-3 in the other semifinal game.
Hillcrest managed only two hits by Jordan Hunter and Marcus Huskey, but the Screamin' Eagles took advantage of eight errors committed by Hoxie.
Mike Spain was the winning pitcher as he struck out 16 and allowed six hits.
Tanner Jarrett suffered the loss on the mound for Hoxie.
Cade Crisler was 2-for-4, with three stolen bases, and Jake Hitt was 2-for-4. Blaine Middlecoff and Joseph Richardson each had a hit.

Sloan-Hendrix and Black Rock met in the opening game of the tournament to determine who would be in the semifinal game against Walnut Ridge.
The Greyhounds defeated the Zebras 16-6 to advance.
