Cats win one, lose oneDebbie RicheyStaff Writer The Walnut Ridge High School baseball team defeated Concord 13-7 Saturday in the Pioneer Classic at Batesville. Logan Gaither hit 4-for-5 and scored two runs. William Wilcoxson was 2-for-5, with two RBIs. Bennett Dudley was 2-for-4, with two RBIs, and Noah Burnside went 2-for-3. Dudley earned the win on the mound to improve to 2-1. He allowed three runs on two hits, while striking out seven and walking four in five innings. The Bobcats improved to 9-5 for the season.
Walnut Ridge traveled to Tuckerman on Friday and fell to the Bulldogs 3-2 in 2A-2 conference action. The Bobcats led 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning. After tying the game 2-2, Tuckerman scored the winning run when a Bulldog batter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Mitchell Thompson suffered the loss, allowing six hits and recording nine strikeouts.
