Lady Eagles drop games
Staff Writer Hillcrest lost to the Viola Lady Longhorns 16-1 in high school softball Friday at Viola. Jessica Broadway pitched two innings and took the loss, allowing 14 runs on eight hits, with six walks and two strikeouts. Samantha Blevins pitched one inning and allowed two runs on three hits, while recording two strikeouts. Natalie Johnson had one hit and scored the Lady Eagles' only run. Broadway had a hit and an RBI, and Kayla McBride had a hit.
Hillcrest hosted the Tuckerman Lady Bulldogs on March 24 at Lynn. The Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the first inning to take an early lead. The Lady Eagles scored two runs in the second inning to close to within 4-2. Tuckerman put the game away with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and three runs in the seventh to take a 9-2 victory. Samantha Blevins pitched four innings, allowing five runs on four hits, with four walks and a strikeout. Jessica Broadway pitched three innings and allowed four runs on three hits, with two walks and two strikeouts. Terra Polston had a hit, an RBI and scored a run. Broadway recorded a double and an RBI. Whitney Jones had a double, and Miranda Doyle closed with a stolen base. |
