Screamin' Eagles record wins
The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles baseball team traveled to Cave City on Thursday to play Izard County Consolidated in the Sharp County Tournament.
With the game tied 3-3 in the ninth inning, Hillcrest's Michael Spain and Dylan Wooten walked. A wild pitch sent Billy Brannon, who was pinch-running for Spain, to third. Brannon scored the game-winner on an error.
Spain started on the mound for the Screamin' Eagles, going seven innings with no decision. Derek Wooten came on in relief and pitched the eighth and ninth innings to earn the win.
Hillcrest lost to Bald Knob 12-4 in their next game.
Derek Wooten recorded two hits for the Screamin' Eagles.
Hillcrest hosted White County Central in their opening game at Strawberry on March 10. The Screamin' Eagles pounded out 11 hits en route to recording a 10-0 shutout.
Spain earned the win, allowing two hits over six innings.
Aaron Britton went 4-for-4, with two doubles. Derek Wooten hit 1-for-2, including a two-run homer in the first inning. Dylan Wooten hit his first home run, a solo shot, in the fifth inning.
Kyle Bristow batted 2-for-3. Marcus Huskey, Jordan Hunter and Spain each recorded a hit. Huskey also scored three runs.
