Lady Eagles beat Quitman
The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles softball team made their way to Quitman on Thursday to take on the Lady Bulldogs in softball action.
The Lady Screamin' Eagles scored seven runs in the first inning, to the Lady Bulldogs' two.
Hillcrest added a run in the second inning and seven more in the third, while holding Quitman scoreless, to make the score 15-2 with the fourth inning approaching.
The Lady Eagles scored one run in the fourth inning, and closed the game with two more runs in the fifth, to the Lady Bulldogs' two, to take the win 18-4.
Jessica Broadway pitched three innings, allowing two hits, two runs, three walks and striking out three. Samantha Blevins finished the game from the mound, allowing a hit, two runs and walking one in two innings.
Lady Eagle Terra Polston batted 3-for-4, with two doubles and an RBI, and scored two runs. Whitney Jones hit 3-for-4, with two doubles and five RBIs, and scored four runs. Stevie Howard was 3-for-4, with an RBI and three stolen bases, and scored three runs. Natalie Johnson went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
Broadway batted 2-for-4, with a double and two RBIs, and scored three runs. Elaina Pankey hit 2-for-5, with four RBIs and two stolen bases, and scored two runs. Kayla McBride recorded two RBIs, scored a run and had a stolen base. Miranda Doyle scored a run and had an RBI and a stolen base, and Blevins had an RBI.
Hillcrest hosted Cedar Ridge at Lynn on March 12, with the Lady Timberwolves taking a 6-4 win.
Cedar Ridge scored five runs in the fifth inning, while holding Hillcrest scoreless. The Lady Eagles rallied in the sixth inning to close the gap to 6-4, but could not overcome the Lady T-wolves.
Lady Screamin' Eagle Blevins pitched seven innings, allowing 11 hits and six runs, while walking one and striking out one.
Jessica Broadway scored one run on a walk. Jones and Kayla McBride each had a hit and a walk. Pankey, Blevins and Doyle each recorded a single and scored a run.
The Lady Eagles traveled to Judsonia to take on the White County Central Lady Bears on March 10.
WCC defeated Hillcrest 10-1.
Broadway pitched four innings, allowing five hits, seven runs and walking six. Blevins pitched the last two innings, allowing three hits and three runs.
At the plate, Broadway had two hits, including a triple, and scored Hillcrest's only run. Polston had a hit and three stolen bases.
