Stone to be part of delegation
"It's a really big honor for me, and it's a big honor for Lawrence County," Stone said, noting that this was the second convention in a row that the county will be represented in the delegation. Mary Freeman of Portia was a voting delegate at the last convention. Two delegates are selected from each congressional district, for a total of eight delegates. In addition, the party selects one male and one female to serve as pages. As a page, Stone will be helping to set up for all the events and assisting the Arkansas delegation. As part of his duties, he will have full floor access for the entire week. "It's unbelievable," he said. "It's something I've always wanted to do, and I'm honored that they picked me." Dale Freeman, who is chair of the Lawrence County Democratic Central Committee, said Stone's selection is definitely an honor for the county and the Lawrence County Democrats. He said he is hoping they will be able to help offset some of Stone's expenses. "It's a great honor for anyone to get to go to the National Convention, especially a Young Democrat," Freeman said. "He will learn a lot." |
