WR students honor male heroes
Walnut Ridge's Ben R. Bush Elementary dads and grandads' breakfast was held Tuesday morning in the Van Ellis Cafetorium. The K-4 continental breakfast hosted over 400 guests.
"Having so many male role models give up their precious time to come together at 7:30 in the morning to share their Bobcat spirit brought smiles to both their children and faculty," said Deborah Caspall, elementary counselor.
"Traditionally, mothers are the child's liaison to the school ~ helping teachers, assisting with programs, bringing forgotten lunches and schoolwork," Caspall said. "When dads, grandads or other significant men in the child's life come to school, there's a wholesome surge of confidence, pride and safety in the child that only a paternal figure can instill," she added.
"We applaud you men because you have the awesome responsibility to instill in your children the desire to do their best and to represent their families with dignity. We salute you dads: the soldiers, farmers, business owners, teachers, coaches, accountants, truck drivers, insurance agents, salesmen, assemblers, welders, pilots, bankers, etc. You are our heroes!"
