The Hoxie Lady Mustangs faced Shiloh Christian in the first round of the 3A State Basketball Tournament on Feb. 26 at Cave City. The Lady Mustangs, playing their fourth game in five days, were no match for the powerful Lady Saints, falling 75-24.
In the first half, Shiloh Christian built leads of 24-3 at the end of the first quarter and 52-5 at halftime. Hoxie committed 18 turnovers in the half, which the Lady Saints converted into 25 points.
Hoxie trailed 75-16 after three quarters, but outscored the Lady Saints 8-0 in the final period to set the final score.
Tanya Sisco led Hoxie with nine points. Jessica Barber and Megan Black each had five points. Erica Galbreath scored three points, and Alyssa McConnell added two.
The Lady Mustangs finished the season with a 20-9 record.
