LawCo. ladies advance to state
Three senior high girls basketball teams in Lawrence County qualified for the state tournament after posting exceptional performances during their respective regional tournaments.
Black Rock's Lady Zebras claimed their regional title with a 55-39 victory over Mount Vernon-Enola at Mount Vernon.
The Lady Bobcats of Walnut Ridge made it to the finals of their regional tournament, which was played at Cherry Valley. They fell to Buffalo Island Central 47-33 in the title match to earn runners-up honors.
Hoxie's Lady Mustangs also earned a state tournament berth, finishing fourth in their regional tournament. After falling in the semifinals, they faced East Poinsett County in a consolation match to determine third and fourth place.
In state action, Hoxie played Shiloh Christian, Tuesday afternoon, at Cave City. Their season ended with a 75-24 loss.
Black Rock and Walnut Ridge are both scheduled to play this evening at 7. The Lady Zebras will face Nevada County at Harrison, and the Lady Cats will play Strong at Jessieville.
