Stowers plans re-election bid
Now serving in her second term as clerk, she stated, "I would like to take this opportunity to ask the voters of Lawrence County for their support for my re-election as county clerk in the May 20 primary. I have enjoyed working for and serving the people of Lawrence County for the past three years and look forward to many more years."
Stowers said there have been several improvements in the office during her tenure.
"We were chosen as one of the first 11 counties to 'go live' with the Secretary of State's new statewide voter registration program," she said.
Stowers praised her deputy clerks, Billie Brewer, who does payroll, Tammy Jones, who is in charge of accounts payable, and Sarah Dobbs, who keeps the voter registration up to date.
"They make the office run smoothly on a daily basis," she said. "Without these three special ladies, my jobs would be much more difficult."
Stowers and her husband, Harold, live in Hoxie, and they have two children. Their son, Blair, and his wife, Jamie, live in College City and have a son, Henry. Their daughter, Haley, is married to Aaron Foster, and they live in Hoxie.
