EVENT AIDS ARKANSAS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL ~ Stephanie Davis, chairperson for the Lawrence County Circle of Friends, welcomes supporters to the Tips for Tots fund-raiser for Arkansas Children's Hospital. The event, held Saturday night in Walnut Ridge, raised approximately $28,000 for the hospital. Deadline for
club could
be extended

After several weeks of discussion between the Walnut Ridge Airport Commission and the Walnut Ridge Country Club concerning the proximity of the club's golf course to a runway at the airport, the country club could receive additional time to come up with a solution.

Hoxie Aldermen hire
two city attorneys

During the regular council meeting on Feb. 11, Hoxie aldermen voted to hire two attorneys for the city, following a recommendation made by the committee formed to look at options.

Deputy prosecutor glad
to be close to home

Serving Lawrence County as deputy prosecuting attorney since June is Ryan Cooper, a native of Pocahontas and resident of Imboden.

Alicia woman dies in accident

A two-vehicle accident in the early morning hours on Saturday resulted in the death of an Alicia woman, according to Trooper Ronald Laso of the Arkansas State Police.

Stowers plans re-election bid

County Clerk Tina Stowers formally announced on Monday that she will seek re-election to that office.
