Upcoming eventsBesides our weekly deadlines, The TD staff also tries to plan in advance for special sections, holidays or events. One special day coming soon is Feb. 29, which only comes once every four years. If you have a story that relates to this special day, please let our staff know. If you know anyone with a birthday or anniversary on this date, we would also like to know.
For our March 5 edition, we are planning a special section to salute the 100th anniversary of 4-H. If you have a special 4-H memory or anecdote, we would appreciate you sharing that with us. If 4-H has had a special influence in your life, we would like to know that too.
Derek Collins, pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church, sends us this report on his church's Bible Institute, which is apparently quite busy. "I wanted to let you know that our school, Gethsemane Bible Institute is doing really well again this semester. We have 50 students, mostly pastors, driving from all over northeast and central Arkansas every Monday and Tuesday night. We even have one pastor driving from Mississippi. Our first graduation is scheduled for May 17 at 2 p.m. We are offering an associate degree in Biblical Studies, bachelor degrees in Biblical Studies and Theology and very soon we will begin master's courses. (I will finish my doctorate degree in theology in May.) Our website is gethsemanebible.com, and we have been up for less than a year and have already had over 25,000 visitors.
Lowell Spurlock, a longtime TD subscriber who lives south of Alicia, has a ministry to those incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail. He and his pastor, Mark Massey, of the Sedgwick United Methodist Church, visit the jail each week. Besides spiritual counseling, the men share a copy of The TD with those they visit.
