Hoxie teams claim

The Hoxie senior high boys and girls basketball teams hosted Hillcrest Friday for senior night.
The Lady Mustangs slipped out to a 22-15 first-quarter lead over the Lady Screamin' Eagles. Hillcrest stepped up their offense in the second quarter and closed the gap, but still trailed 36-31 at halftime.
Hoxie began to hammer the boards in the third period and held a 56-43 third-quarter lead. Foul trouble began to plague the Lady Eagles in the final period, and the Lady Mustangs pulled away for an 80-59 win.
Hoxie had three players in double digits, with Megan Black leading the way with 25 points. Ashley Glenn notched 18 points. Jessica Barber closed with 11 points, and Raven Gates chipped in nine. Erica Galbreath and Tanya Sisco recorded six points each. Brooke French added three points, and Alyssa McConnell had two.
Hillcrest was led by Amber Glenn with 16 points, and Breanna Doyle followed with 15. Whitney Jones notched seven points, and Jessica Broadway chipped in six. Terra Polston and Natalie Johnson closed with five points each. Miranda Doyle recorded two points. Kalie Durham, Lauren Pickle and Tamara Evans closed with a free throw each.
In senior boys action, Hoxie held a 27-19 first-quarter lead. Hoxie maintained control of the match in the second period, moving out to a 55-34 lead at halftime.
Everyone on the Mustangs' bench saw action in the second half, as Hoxie moved out to an 81-46 lead after three quarters and cruised to a 94-48 win.
Five Mustangs scored in double digits, led by Nate Ragsdell with 19 points. Justin Weitkamp followed with 13 points. Ray Volner and Beau Sisco chipped in 11 points each, and Tyler Thompson added 10.
Morgan Puckett added nine points, and Tanner Jarrett closed with six. Jonathan Quesada notched five points. Kevin Johnson and Jake Hitt had four points each, and Cody Harper recorded two points.
Dylan Wooten led the Eagles with 12 points, and Dustin Durham followed with 11. Aaron Britton added six points, and Derek Wooten recorded five. Chris Blevins notched four points. Patrick Corder and Robert Jones chipped in three points and Billy Brannon had two.
