Ravenden resident
dies after accident

A Ravenden man died Thursday evening of injuries received after he was struck by a vehicle while walking north in the northbound lane of Highway 90 approximately a half mile north of U.S. 63.

Larry Frederick Dunn, 61, was transported from the scene to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and airlifted to a hospital in Memphis. Dunn died en route.

According to a police report witnesses said that Dunn was walking in the northbound lane of Highway 90 at approximately 6:10 p.m. and was struck by a vehicle driven north by John Ed McIntare, 69, of Ravenden Springs.

McIntare stated that he met a southbound vehicle and was temporarily blinded by the lights. By the time he saw Dunn he was unable to stop in time. Other witnesses at the scene said they saw Dunn in McIntare's headlights just before the pickup hit him.

Chief Timothy P. McComas of the Ravenden Police Department investigated the accident.
