Hoxie seventh-grade boys win finalsDebbie RicheyStaff Writer The Hoxie and Walnut Ridge seventh grade boys hit the court Saturday at Imboden with the county championship at stake. The Mustangs slipped out to an 8-6 first-quarter lead. The Hoxie defense took over in the second quarter, holding the Bobcats scoreless in the period while the Mustangs raced to a 21-6 halftime lead. Walnut Ridge was unable to derail Hoxie in the second half. The Mustangs led 29-11 after three quarters and rolled to a 41-14 victory. Two Mustangs scored in double digits, with Zach Criser leading the way with 17 points. Jacob Defries added 12 points. Seth Hart contributed five points, and Dylan Jones notched three. Hayden Defries and Ryan Vaughn recorded two points each. Nick Rice led the Cats with five points, and Eric Wilcoxson contributed three. Range Weeks, Payton Pool and Rowdy Ditto notched two points each.
