Hoxie senior boys are county champsDebbie RicheyStaff Writer The top-seeded Hoxie Mustangs squared off against the hometown Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds in the senior boys final of the Lawrence County Tournament Saturday at Imboden. The Mustangs held a slim 17-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, but extended the lead to 37-29 over the second-seeded Greyhounds at halftime. Hoxie continued their offensive surge in the second half, moving out to a 60-41 lead after three quarters and going on to claim the championship with a 78-57 win. Hoxie had four players score in double digits, with Justin Weitkamp leading the way with 19 points. Cade Crisler and Ray Volner had 13 points each. Nate Ragsdell closed with 11 points, and Beau Sisco chipped in nine. Tanner Jarrett recorded six points, and Morgan Puckett added three. Kevin Johnson and Jake Hitt had two points each. Stanley Archer led the Greyhounds with 13 points. Trevor Anderson and John Thomison each had 11 points. Zach Ogden notched eight points, and Royce Pace chipped in six. Chad Orrick closed with five points. Austin Morgan added two points, and Jeremy Robert added a free throw.
