Latham plans re-election bid

County Judge Alex Latham has announced that he will seek re-election to the office. In a statement released Monday, he stated:

"It is with pleasure that I announce my candidacy for county judge. My business experience and years of experience as your county judge qualifies me to be the chief executive officer of Lawrence County.

"I have balanced the budget and kept the county in the black with the assistance of the other elected county officials. I have worked with the city and state officials to provide the best services possible for Lawrence County without raising taxes. Because of this working relationship, we have had many accomplishments during my tenure as your county judge.

"I take this opportunity to thank you, the citizens of Lawrence County, for allowing me to serve as your county judge. I will continue to work toward my goals of not raising taxes or cutting services.

"I have lived all of my adult life in Lawrence County. I have been married to Lynda for 43 years, and we have one daughter, Angela.

I am asking for your support and vote in the primary election in May."
