Forrester announces for clerk

Ashley Forrester of Walnut Ridge has formally announced her candidacy for the office of Lawrence County clerk in the Democratic primary election, which will be held May 20.

Forrester is a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and a graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. She worked in the county clerk's office as a deputy clerk from 2004 to 2007.

"I am very excited at the possibility of serving the people of Lawrence County," she said. "I would consider it a great honor and pleasure to serve as your next county clerk.

"I have enjoyed working with the public over the past nine years. I feel that my knowledge and experience in the county clerk's office along with my organization skills and work ethic would be an asset to the county.

"If elected, I will run a friendly, professional and organized office. I will work side-by-side with the deputy clerks, and I will strive to meet all deadlines in a timely fashion.

"I have experience working on elections, and I promise that I will work with the Election Commission to hold successful elections. I look forward to visiting with as many of you, the citizens of Lawrence County, as possible during my campaign."

Forrester is married to Larry Forrester, and they have two children, Cade and Cara. She is the daughter of David and Darla McEntire of Walnut Ridge and the granddaughter of Kenneth and Wanda McEntire and Juanita Tolson, all of Walnut Ridge, and the late Bud Tolson.
