Lady Mustangs fall
to EPC, Marmaduke
East Poinsett County's Lady Warriors invaded Hoxie Thursday evening and dealt the Lady Mustangs a 57-32 loss in 3A-3 conference basketball action.
EPC raced out to a 21-9 lead in the first quarter. The Lady Warriors continued to overpower Hoxie in the second period and held a 32-14 lead at halftime.
The Lady Mustangs could not muster a second-half rally and trailed 48-23 heading into the final quarter.
Tanya Sisco led Hoxie with 10 points, and Jessica Barber added eight.
In junior high girls action, EPC eked out a 32-28 win over Hoxie.
The Lady Mustangs traveled to Marmaduke on Jan. 14.
The Lady Greyhounds slipped past the Lady Mustangs in the first quarter by a score of 17-16. Hoxie began to overpower Marmaduke in the second period and took a 35-33 lead to the locker room at halftime.
The Lady Hounds began to fight back in the third quarter, taking a 43-41 lead. Marmaduke held on in the final period to defeat the Lady Mustangs 57-51.
Raven Gates and Megan Black each scored 11 points to lead Hoxie.
Hoxie defeated Marmaduke 39-28 in junior high girls action.
