The East Poinsett County Warriors served as homecoming opponents for the Hoxie Mustangs on Friday evening at Hicks Gymnasium.
The senior Mustangs overwhelmed the Warriors in the first half, taking a 35-23 lead to the locker room at halftime.
Hoxie continued their hot shooting in the second half and coasted to a 76-50 victory.
Ray Volner led Hoxie with 20 points and Beau Sisco had 11.
The Mustangs improved to 15-3 overall and 12-1 in 3A-3 conference play.
In the junior high boys game, Hoxie fell to EPC 39-24.
The Hoxie boys made a road trip to Piggott to take on the Mohawks on Jan. 15.
The Mustangs took a first-quarter lead of 21-16. Piggott struggled against the Hoxie defense and trailed the Mustangs 41-30 at halftime.
The Mustangs continued to control the game in the second half and held a 64-48 third-quarter lead. Hoxie put the Mohawks away in the final period, taking the 84-72 win.
Volner went 12-for-15 from the field and totaled 34 points for the Mustangs. Morgan Puckett contributed 16 points, including four three-pointers, and Beau Sisco finished with 11 points.
Hoxie defeated Piggott 38-36 in junior high boys action.
Cade Crisler's layup with 2.3 seconds left gave the Mustangs a 56-55 win at Corning on Jan. 11.
Volner was the Mustangs' top scorer with 19 points, and Tanner Jarrett had 13.
