Shelter shows

The Children's Shelter started as a vision early in 2006 because of the growing influx of displaced children. Judy Turnbull, local advocate for children and the leading force in establishing a shelter, said the need for the shelter continues.

Hoxie hires grant writer

During the regular meeting of the Hoxie City Council on Jan. 8, Mayor Donnie Roberts reported that he had hired a grant writer to work on a Rails to Trails Grant. The grant writer would apply for the funds for a two-percent fee.

Justices reject bids
on new courtroom

During the regular meeting on Monday night, justices rejected both bids on the new courtroom for the Lawrence County Courthouse. Justices thought both were too high and are hoping to reopen for bids.

LydaAnn Harris to
run for re-election

Lyda Ann Harris of Strawberry has announced her candidacy for re-election as Lawrence County treasurer. She is seeking her seventh term in the treasurer's office.

Harris to seek re-election

Stephanie Harris of Lynn has announced her candidacy for re-election as Lawrence County tax collector.
