Lady Hounds fall to Midland

Midland's Lady Mustangs invaded Imboden to take on the Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds in girls high school basketball on Friday night.
In the senior girls match up, Midland took a 9-4 lead at the close of the first quarter and took an eight-point lead, 20-12, to the dressing room at halftime.
The Lady Hounds began the task of cutting the gap, but continued to trail 29-22 at the close of the third quarter. Despite Sloan-Hendrix's attempt to tame the Lady Mustangs, Midland took the win 56-51.
Christie Caldwell led the Lady Hounds with 13 points and two rebounds. Kristin Belcher had nine points, five rebounds and an assist. Amy Green contributed eight points and had four rebounds. Hannah Rowsey notched seven points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Amanda Green tossed in five points and had two steals, two assists and a rebound. Kara Morris added four points, two rebounds and a steal. Latricia Mans recorded three points, three rebounds and an assist, and Katelyn Morris closed with two points nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Midland held a 7-5 first-quarter lead over the junior Lady Greyhounds. It seemed that Sloan Hendrix was getting their footing as the second quarter came to a close, but Midland still led 13-10 at halftime.
The Mustangs continued their hot shooting in the third quarter and increased their lead to 25-14 entering the final period and went on to defeat the junior Lady Hounds 36-18.
Haley Slusser led the junior Lady Greyhounds with eight points.
