Preliminary round East Poinsett County

The Hoxie boys used a second-half explosion to turn a close game into a 60-30 rout of the EPC Warriors in the preliminary round on Dec. 21.

The Warriors broke out early, taking a 7-3 lead in a low-scoring first quarter. Hoxie began to fuel the game in the second period and took an 18-17 lead at halftime.

Hoxie got into high gear in the third quarter, moving out to a 44-26 lead. Hoxie's press forced EPC into turnovers, resulting in fast-break opportunities for the Mustangs. Dunks by Volner brought the Hoxie fans to their feet. With the mercy rule in effect, the Mustangs advanced to the first round.

Four Hoxie players notched double digits, with Jarrett and Volner leading the way with 11 points each. Weitkamp and Ragsdell both contributed 10 points. Tyler Thompson and Sisco tossed in five points each. Crisler contributed four points, while Morgan Puckett and Cody Harper closed with two points each.
