For more than 30 years Lawrence County Kiwanians have helped the clients at the Lawrence County Cooperative School celebrate Christmas. Kiwanis members say they receive more happiness from giving the gifts than the clients get from receiving them. The clients at the school would probably disagree because they love their Christmas party.

Angel Tree Project
Christmas wishes were granted for 416 angels representing 180 Lawrence County families, according to Judy Videll of the Department of Human Services, who helps coordinate the Angel Tree Project.

ABC denies permit appealHoxie resident Kerry Nicholas' plans to open a convenience store in the Shady Grove community received another setback on Dec. 19 when the Alcohol Beverage Control Division denied an appeal of ABC Director Michael Langley's decision to not allow the proposed store to sell beer.
